Brentwood Jobs, Skills and Volunteering Event: free on 7 October

Job vacancies, apprenticeships, training and volunteering will be brought together at the Brentwood Jobs, Skills and Volunteering Event on Wednesday 7 October 2026. The free event runs from 11am to 3pm at The Brentwood Centre, Doddinghurst Road, Brentwood, Essex, and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.

For residents looking for work, considering a career change or seeking opportunities closer to home, the event offers a chance to speak directly with employers and support organisations. Free registration is available through the event’s Eventbrite page, which also carries the full list of participating organisations.

More than 50 organisations covering work, skills and volunteering

According to Brentwood Borough Council’s notice, published on 21 September, more than 50 local employers, training providers, support services and voluntary organisations will take part. The sectors represented include transport, healthcare, beauty and public services.

Visitors can explore local vacancies alongside apprenticeships, skills programmes and training courses. Volunteering opportunities are also part of the programme, giving the event a wider remit than a job fair focused solely on paid employment.

The range of organisations matters for people whose next step may involve training or support as well as a job application. The council says visitors will be able to discuss the help available directly with participating employers and organisations, bringing several routes into work and learning into the same venue.

No individual employers or specific vacancies are named in the supplied council notice. The full participant list is available through the registration page, allowing prospective visitors to see which organisations are taking part.

Dedicated guidance for 16 to 24-year-olds

A Young People’s Zone will provide specialist support for people aged 16 to 24 who are not currently in education, employment or training. The notice uses the abbreviation NEET for this group.

The zone will focus on pathways into work, education and training. It sits within an event that also welcomes people entering the workforce, returning to employment, looking to retrain or seeking volunteering experience.

Councillor David Kendall, Chair of the council’s Finance & Future Development Committee, said the event would support people at different stages of their careers. He highlighted tailored guidance for young people outside education, employment and training as part of that provision.

When to attend and where to register

The event is hosted by Brentwood Borough Council in partnership with Brentwood Jobcentre Plus and Brentwood Community and Voluntary Service (CVS). Attendance is free, with the four-hour session taking place at The Brentwood Centre on 7 October.

The supplied notice does not include transport or accessibility arrangements. For the confirmed participant list and free registration, use the Eventbrite registration page identified in the council’s event notice.
